4 Fun marketing ideas to sell more sunbed sessions

Adding a sunbed to your salon is a sure-fire way of boosting your revenue — if you do it right. In an earlier blog we already highlighted some smart strategies to get more revenue from your salon. But if you’re looking for some practical tips and ideas that you can implement in no-time, we’ve got you covered too. Here are some marketing tips you can easily execute.

Before we start

The big takeaway of these tips? Nobody is as great at marketing as your own customers. Word of mouth is more important than ever, so try to stimulate that as much as you can. It’s cheaper to get people to come back than to constantly target new clients.

1.Offer group discounts

Now, you might only have one sun bed, but that doesn’t mean that you can't offer group discounts. In a way, this works like a referral program. You get more people to get a subscription to your tanning services, by offering a discount based on how many people sign up at once: the more, the merrier. Great for those friend groups who always want to look their best.

2. Give a gift with memberships

If you want people to get a subscription to your tanning service, they’ll need an incentive that makes buying more sessions makes more sense than buying them one at a time. You can do this with a discount, but you can also make it more valuable.

You can do this with offering a free gift for each new sign up. Think complimentary products or a voucher for one of the other beauty treatments in your salon. Sometimes, this little push is all people need.

3.Make it easier to book a session

Especially for salons who only have a limited number of tanning beds, it can be tricky to manage booked time slots. It’s great when customers walk in on a whim, but if there’s too many people at the same time, and you’ll have to send them away or make them wait, they might never come back.

If this situation sounds familiar, consider getting a smart and easy booking system in place. Keep it accessible — it could be as easy as sending you a DM on Instagram to check availability. To promote the use of this, you can offer discounts to pre-booked sessions.

4. Organize a contest

Nothing like a little friendly competition! Social media is a great way to promote your business, but increasing your reach can be difficult at times. That’s why contests continue to be a great way to promote what you have to offer.

How does it work? Head over to Instagram or Facebook and create a post with a random giveaway. To participate, have people tag two friends and let them share their posts in their own stories to boost their chances of winning. More people will get to see your account and are made aware of your salon and sunbeds, meaning that even if they don’t win, you’ll at least be on their mind next time they want to work on their tan.
