4 Fun marketing ideas to sell more sunbed sessions

Steve Foyster By Steve Foyster   •     •   2 minute read

Adding a sunbed to your salon is a sure-fire way of boosting your revenue – if you do it right. In an earlier blog we highlighted some smart strategies to create more revenue from your salon. If you’re looking for some practical tips and ideas , we’ve got you covered. Here are some marketing tips you can easily execute.

Before we start

The biggest takeaway of these tips – nobody is as great at marketing as your own customers. Word of mouth is more important than ever, so try to stimulate as much as you can. It’s cheaper to have clients return than constantly target new ones.

1.Offer group discounts

You might only have one sunbed but that doesn’t mean you can’t offer group discounts. Basically, this works like a referral program. You get more people to subscribe to your tanning services by offering a discount based on the amount of people to sign up at once. It’s a great incentive for those friend groups who always want to look their best.

2. Give a gift with memberships

If you want people to subscribe to your tanning service, they’ll need an incentive to make buying more sessions more attractive than buying one session at a time. You can do this with a discount, but you can make it more valuable. You can do this by offering a complimentary gift for each new membership. Think complimentary products or a voucher for another beauty treatment in your salon. Sometimes this little push is all people need.

3.Make it easier to book a session

Especially for salons who only have a limited number of tanning beds, it can be tricky to manage booked time slots. It’s great when customers walk in on a whim, but if there’s too many people at any one time and you start to turn them away or make them wait, they may never come back.

If this situation sounds familiar, consider a smart, easy booking system. Keep it accessible, it could be as easy as sending you a DM on Instagram to check availability. To promote this you can offer discounts to pre-book sessions.

4. Organise a competition

Nothing like a little friendly competition! Social media is a great way to promote your business, but increasing your reach can be difficult at times. That’s why contests continue to be a great way to promote what you have to offer.

How does it work? Head over to Instagram or Facebook and create a post with a random giveaway. To participate, have people tag two friends and let them share their posts in their own stories to boost their chances of winning. More people will get to see your account, your salon and sunbeds, meaning that even if they don’t win you’re at least on their mind next time they want to work on their tan.

How much money do sunbeds bring in?
